(Sept. 17, 2014) Bowling Green surrendered five second half goals to Butler, as the Falcons fell on the road to the Bulldogs 5-0 in non-conference play. Two small lapses in the second half by the Falcons saw Butler score the first three goals in just over a three minute span early in the second half, while the last two Bulldog goals came within a minute of each other midway through the final frame to allow the home team to pull away with the win. Lauren Cadel tallied nine saves in the loss.

COACH'S COMMENTS
"Butler is a good team so this is a great test for us to round out our non-conference schedule. Every game we've seen growth as a team so we are looking to clean up details on the defensive side of the ball as well as sharpen up our attack around goal." -- Head Coach Lindsay Basalyga.

CAREER HIGHS FOR COUCH
Mikaela Couch has had a breakout season for the Falcons thus far, leading the team in goals (five) and assists (three). She was involved in at least one goal in each of Bowling Green's three games this past week. This season, she has scored a goal in five of the team's seven matches and has a goal or assist in six of seven. The sophomore has a team-high 13 points.
HUBERT'S RETURN
Redshirt freshman Erica Hubert is seeing action for the first time in her BGSU career due to an injury suffered last season. Through seven games, she has nine points, four goals and one assist. Hubert scored her first career goal Aug. 21 in the season opener against Chicago State, also recording her first career assist in the 4-0 victory. On Aug. 23 against IPFW, the Ontario native capitalized on her shot from the top of the box to score her second goal of the season. For her performance in the team's opening two matches, she received her first ever MAC Player of the Week award.
Â
FOCUS ON THE FALCONS
Bowling Green and third-year head coach Lindsay Basalyga return 10 starters and a total of 16 letterwinners from last year's team and added a redshirt-freshman and 10 new Falcons in the 2015 recruiting class. Despite the loss of only four letterwinners from a year ago, BGSU is still stacked with youth as 19 members of the 27 players on the 2015 roster are either sophomores or freshmen. However, of the Falcons' 15 total goals last season, 13 of those scores were recorded by a total of eight returners on the roster this season. BGSU also returns starting goalkeeper Lauren Cadel, who led the MAC and was third among all NCAA Division I goalkeepers with a BGSU single-season record 146 saves in 2014.
Â
CAREER LEADER - LAUREN CADEL
Redshirt-junior Lauren Cadel is already BGSU's career leader in games with double digit saves with only two full seasons on the pitch for the Falcons. With her six total games with 10 or more saves last year in 2014, Cadel sits atop of the career record books with 12 career games with double digit saves. She also registered six games with double digit saves in her first year between the pipes for BGSU in 2013.
Â
Cadel, who is 4-2-1 this season, set a school record with a career-high 19 saves in Bowling Green's double-overtime draw with Valparaiso Sunday afternoon. This was her first double-digit save of the season. Her 19 saves versus the Crusaders broke Erika Flanders' mark of 17 set back in 2001 for BGSU. The redshirt junior recorded six saves in the opening half and then added 13 more to surpass her previous career-best of 14 saves. She also tallied nine saves in wins over Findlay and Eastern Illinois as BGSU went 2-0-1 in three games this week. Cadel was awarded her second MAC Defensive Player of the Week award for her performances against Findlay, EIU and Valpo.
Â
FALCONS ALL-TIME VERSUS THE 2015 FOES
BGSU enters the 2015 season having played all but one of its opponents prior to this year. The Falcons are 90-124-28 all-time versus their 19 regular season foes in 2015, including having posted double digit wins over Buffalo and Kent State, as well as wins over Akron, Kent State, Ohio and Chicago State in 2014.
Â
PICKED FIFTH IN THE EAST IN THE 2015 MAC PRESEASON POLL
The Bowling Green State University Falcons were picked to finish fifth in the East Division by the MAC Coaches. The Buffalo Bulls are the favorite to win the East Division regular season title, while the Ball State Cardinals and Western Michigan Broncos are the tied favorite to win the West Division. In the East Division following Buffalo, Miami is predicted to finish second with Kent State (3), Ohio (4), Bowling Green (5) and Akron (6).
