Parker, Radeva Named Vito's Athletes Of The Week

Each week, the Bowling Green State University Athletic Department names the Vito's Athletes of the Week, as selected by the athletic communications department based on their athletic performances from the previous week. This week's winners are men's basketball player Spencer Parker and tennis player Polina Radeva.

Male Athlete of the Week
Spencer Parker, a senior from Detroit, Mich., posted back-to-back 20-plus point games last week to lead the Falcons to two straight MAC road wins at Ohio and Eastern Michigan. He paced the Falcons with an average of 21.5 points and 7.5 rebounds per game this past week over the two wins. He also shot 55.6 percent (15-of-27) overall and shot 76.9 percent (10-of-13) from the free throw line. In the come from behind win over Ohio on Jan. 12, Parker, who tallied 15 points in the second half alone, led the way with a game-high 22 points for his fourth 20-plus scoring game of the season. Parker scored a team-high 21 points in the win at Eastern Michigan on Jan. 16, including 12 second-half points, as the forward was 7-of-12 from the field overall.

Female Athlete of the Week
Polina Radeva, a freshman from Varna, Bulgaria, won both singles and doubles matches to lead the Falcons to their first match victory since the 2013-14 season in a 5-2 win over Detroit. The Falcons flipped a 6-1 loss to the Titans a year ago as Radeva posted a 4-6, 6-3, 6-3 victory at No. 1 singles and then paired with Emily Witt for a 7-5 victory at No. 1 doubles. While Bowling Green lost to No. 18 Ohio State earlier in the week 7-0, Radeva pushed the Buckeyes' top player to a third set.
