Falcons Announce 2016 Football Opponents

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – In conjunction with the Mid-American Conference, the Bowling Green State University football program released their 12 opponents for the 2016 season on Friday afternoon. The Falcons will host six games at Doyt L. Perry Stadium. The four nonconference games are set for the upcoming season, while the eight MAC contests will be announced at a later date.
"We are excited about our 2016 schedule and being able to play against this challenging slate," head coach Mike Jinks said. "We're looking forward to having six games in front of our passionate fans at The Doyt and 10 total games inside the state of Ohio."
BGSU begins the season on the road on Sept. 3 at Ohio State. It will be the Falcons' first trip to Columbus to play the Buckeyes since 2006. The following week (Sept. 10) will be BGSU's home opener at The Doyt against the North Dakota Fighting Hawks. After that, the Falcons will host Middle Tennessee (Sept. 17) before traveling to take on the Memphis Tigers on Sept. 24.
With the departure of UMass from the Mid-American Conference, Bowling Green returns to playing every team in the East Division for the first time since 2013. The Falcons will play five games against the other teams from the East Division and three games against teams from the West Division.

The Orange and Brown will also play host to Buffalo, Kent State and Eastern Michigan in 2016. Bowling Green will play two road games against teams from both the East Division and West Division this upcoming season. The Falcons will travel to Akron, Ohio, Toledo and NIU – the first road game in DeKalb, Ill. for the Falcons since 2008. Seven opponents in 2016 went to a 2015 bowl game, including all six road opponents.
