Miami took the opening kickoff to the BGSU 44, but Terrance Bush sacked Miami quarterback Gus Ragland on third down to force a punt, which went out of bounds at the BGSU 11. On the third play of the Falcons' drive, James Morgan found Miller with a short pass over the middle. Miller cut right and outran several RedHawks defenders up the sideline for a 72-yard touchdown. The catch-and-run was the longest play of the season for BGSU and gave the Falcons a 7-0 lead.
Miami evened the score later in the quarter on an eight-play, 60-yard drive that was capped by a one-yard plunge from Alonzo Smith, but Bowling Green took the lead right back on the ensuing drive. Fred Coppet started the march with a 22-yard run, and Morgan continued it with a one-yard surge on 4th-and-1 from the Miami 41. The RedHawks stopped the drive at the 27, but Jake Suder kicked a career-long 44 yard field goal to give BGSU a 10-7 lead after the first quarter.
But, the early part of the second quarter belonged to Miami. The RedHawks tied the game 10-10 with a 28-yard field goal from Nick Dowd. On the kickoff, Will Watson appeared to return the ball for a touchdown, but the Falcons were flagged for an illegal block and backed up to their own 10. That led to nine more Miami points.
Morgan threw a backward pass to Ronnie Moore on the next play. Moore could not handle the ball, and Ben Steward recovered the fumble in the end zone, where he was touched down for a safety. Leading 12-10, Miami took the free kick and drove 58 yards another touchdown, an eight-yard pass from Ragland to Sam Shisso. With 5:48 left in the half, Miami led 19-10 and would not trail again.
The Falcons cut into the Miami lead before halftime. BGSU benefitted from two 15-yard penalties on the RedHawks, as they drove 75 yards for a touchdown. Morgan capped the drive with an eight-yard pass to Leonard Skattebo. It was Skattebo's first career catch and touchdown.
BGSU fell behind again by nine early in the third quarter when Ragland and Smith connected for a 15-yard touchdown. However, the Falcons answered again later in the period when Morgan threw a dart to Miller for a 28-yard scoring play..
The score remained 26-23 as the game headed to the final 15 minutes. Miami scored a touchdown on a short 31-yard drive to go up by 10 points with 13:41 left in the game. BGSU got back within seven after a 32-yard field goal from Suder, but it was the Falcons' last score of the game.
Morgan was intercepted three times in the game's final 11 minutes, including twice after Miami scored on a short touchdown run to take a 40-26 lead. Bowling Green had the ball three more times but could not make a dent in what became the final score.
Bowling Green accumulated 446 yards of total offense. James Morgan accounted for 389 of those with his arm. Those yards were a single-game high for Morgan, as well as a freshman record for BGSU quarterbacks. Morgan also set single-game highs with 30 completions and 49 attempts.
Scott Miller finished the day with career highs of 11 catches and 178 yards. He also scored two touchdowns. Ronnie Moore added five catches for 81 yards to extend his streak to 38 straight games with at least one catch. Fred Coppet had the best receiving game of his career with six catches and 40 yards. Coppet added 45 rushing yards on ten carries.
BGSU drops to 1-7 (0-4 MAC) with four games remaining in the 2016 season, while Miami improves to 2-6 (2-2). The Falcons' next game is on Tuesday, Nov. 1 in DeKalb, Ill. against the Northern Illinois Huskies. That game will begin at 8:00 p.m. ET and will be televised by either ESPN2 or ESPNU.

POST GAME NOTES
* Freshman James Morgan completed 30 of 49 passes for 389 yards against Miami. All of those totals are career single-game highs for Morgan as well as new BGSU records for freshman quarterbacks. Morgan also threw for three touchdowns and now has eight touchdown throws in his last two games.
* Morgan now has completed 127 of 217 passes for 1,430 yards and 11 touchdowns in 2016. The 11 touchdowns are a BGSU single season record for freshmen quarterbacks, while the yardage total is second only to Matt Schilz, who threw for 2,223 yards in 2010.
* Wide receiver Scott Miller continues to amaze, as he hauled in 11 receptions for 178 yards and two touchdowns against Miami. The 11 catches equal his single-game best (2016 vs. EMU), while his 178 yards shatters his previous single-game best of 161 against North Dakota. He now has four 100-yard receiving games this season, including three in his four overall games.
* Miller now has nine receiving touchdowns this season, including three multi-touchdown games.
* Miller's last four contests have been truly spectacular. In just those four games, he has 36 catches for 531 yards and six touchdowns. Over a 12-game season, that's a pace for 108 catches, 1,593 yards and 18 touchdowns.
* Overall this season, Miller leads BGSU with 58 catches for 798 yards and nine scores. He entered the weekend 17th in FBS in catches per game, 19th in receiving yards, and 30th in all-purpose yards. He was 13th in receiving touchdowns.
* Wide receiver Ronnie Moore caught five balls for 81 yards. He extended his consecutive games streak with at least one catch to 38 straight games. His streak now stands alone as the second longest streak in BGSU history. It was the eighth-longest active streak in FBS entering this week.
* Moore now has 2,529 career receiving yards to move past Ronald Heard to move into sixth place on BGSU's all-time list. He needs 108 more yards to tie Roger Lewis for fifth. With 186 career receptions, he also moves into sole possession of sixth place in BGSU history and needs only three to tie Ryan Burbrink for fifth.
* Leonard Skattebo's eight yard touchdown reception in the second quarter was both the first catch and the first touchdown of his career.
* Fred Coppet set new career single-game bests with six catches for 40 yards out of the backfield. In addition, Coppet carried ten times for 49 yards. He now has 2,407 career rushing yards and is just 66 behind Josh Harris for sixth on BGSU's all-time list.
* Brandon Harris had five tackles (four unassisted) for BGSU and earned his first career fumble recovery.
* Trenton Greene, Gus Schwieterman and Terrance Bush each had a sack for BGSU. It is the first sack of the season (third career) for Greene. Schwieterman earned his fourth sack of the season (and of his career), while Bush also had his first sack of the season. Bush now has 8.5 career sacks.
* BGSU now has six sacks (three each) in the last two games. They had five total in the first six games of the season.
* Joe Davidson punted three times for 134 yards (44.7 per) with a long of 46. It is the first game in 2016 in which he did not have a punt travel 50 or more yards.
* Bowling Green converted their FBS-leading 20th fourth down of the season against Miami. BGSU was 1-for-2 on fourth down today and is now 20-for-32 in 2016.
