Joseph Davidson Named All-American By Phil Steele

Bowling Green, Ohio – Bowling Green State University redshirt junior Joseph Davidson was named fourth team All-American by Phil Steele. Davidson is the fifth Falcon honored by the respected sportswriter and analyst.
Davidson averaged 45.8 yards per punt this year, good for fifth in the country, and his net punting average of 43.1 yards is second nationally. He has 19 punts of 50 yards or more and dropped 21 of his 61 punts inside the 20. Davidson was a top 10 semifinalist for the Ray Guy Award, given annually to the best punter in college football. He led the nation with nine punts of 60 yards or more and his 82-yard punt at Toledo is tied for the longest by an FBS punter this year.
Along with excelling on the field, Davidson holds a 3.94 grade point average with a double major in mathematics and finance. He was named a first team Academic All-American in 2016 after being named second team Academic All-American a year ago.
Along with his All-American team, Phil Steele also released his All-MAC teams. Sophomore wide receiver Scott Miller and Davidson were named first team All-MAC, while redshirt senior linebacker Trenton Greene was named to the second team. Senior running back Fred Coppet, junior center Tim McAuliffe, redshirt senior offensive lineman Logan Dietz and sophomore defensive back Jamari Bozeman all earned third team honors.
A year ago, Phil Steele named Alex Huettel as a first team All-American on the offensive line, wide receiver Roger Lewis a second team All-American and quarterback Matt Johnson as a fourth team All-American. In 2011, running back Anthon Samuel was named to his third team freshman All-American squad.
