McLain, Santoro Named Vito's Athletes Of The Week

Each week, the Bowling Green State University Athletic Department names the Vito's Athletes of the Week, as selected by the athletic communications department based on their athletic performances from the previous week. This week's winners are hockey player Mitch McLain and women's basketball player Carly Santoro. Due to limited teams in action, this week's Vito's Athletes of the Week encapsulate all games played Dec. 12-25.
Male Athlete of the Week
Mitch McLain, a junior from Baxter, Minn., had a two-point weekend in the Falcons' split at Alaska. He earned an assist in Friday's 3-2 loss but picked up the game-winning goal in Saturday's 6-3 bounce back victory. His game-winner came 1:07 into the third period and gave the Falcons a 4-2 lead, ultimately sparking a three-goal flurry in the final stanza. He also top the WCHA on the weekend with 26 faceoff wins.
Female Athlete of the Week
Carly Santoro, a sophomore from Bellevue, Ohio, recorded her third double-double of the season with 15 points and a career-best 15 rebounds in the team's lone game of the two-week stretch against Cleveland State. She also added three assists in the contest.
