Farmer Personal Best Highlights Buckeye Tune-Up Effort
February 19, 2016 | Women's Track and Field
Columbus, Ohio – The Bowling Green State University track and field team sent four Falcons to the Buckeye Tune-Up Friday in final preparations for the Mid-American Conference Championships. Freshman Allie Farmer made the most of the opportunity, setting a new personal best in the weight throw.
Three of the four Falcons who competed in the meet did so in the weight throw. Redshirt junior Kori Reiser had the top performance with a toss of 57-feet-2.25. But Farmer was almost as strong, tossing the apparatus 56-6.75. That was almost two feet further than her previous best of 54-8. Redshirt sophomore Aliyah Gustafson threw 51-10.
Freshman Natalee Cole raced the 800 and completed the distance in 2:25.13. It was her second-fastest time of the season in the event.
"We had some nice things happen today to set us up for next week at the MAC Championships," BGSU throws coach Matt Conly said. "It was a big meet for Allie. Her throw today was really a fantastic mark for a freshman in an event that is new to her. It's a really nice indication of what she will bring to the table in the weight throw for us down the road."
Bowling Green will move on to compete in the Mid-American Conference Championships Friday and Saturday at Akron.
