Falcons Open Weekend At Akron Invitational

Akron, Ohio – Sydnee Matthew scored a new personal best in the pentathlon as the Falcons competed in limited events on day one of the Akron Invitational.
Matthew, a sophomore, set a new personal best with 3,087 points in the pentathlon – 51 more than her best total from a year ago. She set a new personal best in the 60 hurdles with a time of 8.97 seconds, as well as setting a PR in the 800 with a time of 2:42.47. Her shot put throw of 31-feet-1.25 was a season-best and just a few inches shy of another collegiate best.
Kori Reiser and Aliyah Gustafson both competed in the discus, a non-traditional indoor track and field event. Reiser placed seventh overall at 146-11 and Gustafson threw 128-11. In the only other event of the night for the Falcons, Raven Porter posted a long jump mark of 17-1.25.
BGSU will be back in action at the Akron Invitational Saturday beginning with the weight throw at 10 am.
