Falcons Take Down Coyotes, 4-3

Orlando, Fla. – The Bowling Green State University tennis team defeated South Dakota, 4-3 at the Star Island Resort and Tennis Club Friday morning. The Falcons came away with three singles victories and the doubles point on the day.
The Orange and Brown grabbed the doubles point to start the match, winning at the No. 1 and No. 2 spots. Senior Drew Fillis and freshman Paula Comella took down Emma Kranendonk and Ellie Burns, 6-4.
Teaming up again for BG were sophomore Emily Witt and freshman Polina Radeva. The duo held Milica Pavlovic and Elise van Zijst to one game in defeating the tandem, 6-1.
In singles, the Falcons kept the momentum in BG's favor with Radeva, Comella and Witt picking up wins for BGSU.
At No. 1, Radeva overcame a first set defeat against Yuliya Sidenko, 6-4. In the second set, Radeva bounced back to win 6-4, forcing a third set tie-breaker. Radeva went on to win the third set, 13-11.
Picking up her eighth win this season is Comella, who won in straight sets against Milica Pavlovic, 6-1, 6-1 at the No. 2 spot.
Returning to action for the Falcons was Witt, who had been out for five matches due to an injury. At No. 4, Witt faced Elise van Zijst. Witt captured the victory 6-4, 6-3.
BGSU returns to action on March 25, in DeKalb, Ill. to face the Huskies of Northern Illinois.
