Falcon Rally Comes Up Short Against Eastern Michigan

Perrysburg, Ohio – The Falcons captured three singles wins in thrilling super tie-breakers against Eastern Michigan, but ultimately, the Bowling Green State University tennis team fell to EMU, 4-3, at the Perrysburg Tennis Center Sunday afternoon.
Eastern's No.2 and 3 teams won their matches to secure the doubles point. Senior Drew Fillis and freshman Paula Comella were defeating the Eagles' Klara Supejova and Andrea Martinovska, 5-2, but the match went unfinished when EMU clinched the doubles point.
In singles, BGSU's Fillis picked up the first point for the Falcons at the No. 3 spot. She fell behind just once in the 6-4, first set win against Ani Gogvadze. EMU's Gogvadze claimed the second set, 6-1, to force a third set. Fillis controlled the third-set defeating Gogvadze, 1-0 (10-4) to take the match.
The Falcons' freshman Polina Radeva faced Andrea Martinovska at the No. 2 position. Radeva won the first set, 7-5. Martinovska rallied to win the second set, 7-5 and forced a super tie-breaker. Radeva won the super tie-breaker, 1-0 (10-7).
At the No. 1 spot, Comella tallied the third and final point in the match with a 10-8 victory in the breaker, defeating Klara Supejova, 7-6 (1), 6-7(3), 1-0 (10-8). Comella was behind 7-1 in the third set, but climbed her way back point-by-point tying the set at 8-8. Comella held Supejova to eight points to capture the third set and the match.
Following today's match, the Falcons will hit the road to face Miami Friday at 1 p.m. BGSU will end the regular season with three home duals against Ball State (April 17), Akron (April 22), and Buffalo (April 24).
