Falcons Return Home to Face Eagles

Bowling Green, Ohio – The Bowling Green State University tennis team returns home for a dual match against Eastern Michigan Sunday. The match is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. at Keefe Courts on the BG campus. In the event of inclement weather, the match would be held indoors at the Perrysburg Tennis Center.
Last time out the Falcons fell to the Toledo Rockets, 6-1 at the Shadow Valley Tennis Center. Picking up the lone point for BG was freshman Paula Comella, who defeated Sidnay Huck in straight sets, 6-1, 6-2, at the No. 2 position. Comella has five wins at the No. 2 singles spot and a total of ten victories in singles play this season.
Eastern Michigan enters the weekend with an overall record of 3-13, and the Eagles are 0-3 in Mid- American Conference play, but face Western Michigan before taking on the Falcons Sunday. EMU has fallen to Akron, Buffalo and Ball State, by scores of 5-2. The Eagles seven returners are senior Klara Supejova, junior Maria Paula Ribero and sophomores Alejandra Barcelo Almoyna, Renu Sharma and Anna Veleva. The Eagles were predicted to finish fifth in the MAC in 2016 by the league's head coaches, according to the pre-season poll.
Last year, Eastern Michigan ended the 2015 season 9-14 overall and 4-4 in conference play. At the MAC Championship, head coach Ryan Ray's team escaped Toledo in the quarterfinals, 4-3, and then fell to eventual champion Miami, 4-1, in the semifinals. EMU leads the Falcons, 31-14, in the all-time series between the teams.
Following this weekend's matches, the Falcons will hit the road to face Miami Friday, April 15 at 1 p.m. BGSU will end the regular season with three home duals against Ball State (April 17), Akron (April 22), and Buffalo (April 24).
