Ryan Kardok Promoted to Director of Men’s Basketball Operations

Bowling Green, Ohio – Ryan Kardok, who joined the Bowling Green State University men's basketball staff as the Video Coordinator in May 2015, has been promoted to the Director of Basketball Operations announced men's basketball head coach Michael Huger.
"Ryan Kardok has earned a promotion into the role of director of operations. Ryan came with me from the University of Miami (Fla.) and has done a terrific job since arriving in Bowling Green. He has a very strong knowledge for the ins and outs of college basketball and is fully invested in the welfare of our student-athletes," stated Coach Huger. "Ryan is well liked by our players and staff and was an easy choice to fill the operations role."
Kardok, who was in charge of the editing and exchange of both highlight and game files, as well as the filming of daily practices and games last season in 2015-16, will now be in charge of the day-to-day administrative operations, such as scheduling and budget, on campus recruiting and team travel. He will also serve as the director of the Michael Huger Basketball Camp and the Junior Falcons Basketball Camps.
"Ryan is an energetic young coach who has a bright future in coaching. As a true student of the game, Ryan will continue to be a terrific resource for our student-athletes", Huger continued. "I am excited to have Ryan serve in this important role within our program."
In 2015-16, Kardok's first year on staff at BGSU, the Falcons posted 16 wins overall on the season. The Falcons also posted a season-high six-game winning streak from Nov. 22 to Dec. 8, which marked the longest winning streak for a BGSU team since the 2008-09 season.

BGSU picked up wins over No. 5 Kent State and No. 4 Central Michigan over the first two rounds of the 2016 MAC Men's Basketball Championship Tournament to advance to the semifinals for the first time since 2009.
A total of three players averaged double digit points per game on the year in Spencer Parker (14.0), Zack Denny (10.6) and Wes Alcegaire (10.2), while two players in Ismail Ali (130) and David Joseph (100) each recorded 100 assists or more on the season. Seven different players averaged 20 minutes or more per game on the season, while nine different Falcons on averaged logged double digit minutes on the year.
Senior Spencer Parker earned All-MAC Honorable Mention accolades for the year and became just the 43rd Falcon in BGSU men's basketball history to record 1,000 career points. Parker was twice named the College Sports Madness Player of the Week (Nov. 30 & Jan. 17) and was also tabbed the YP.com MAC East Division Player of the Week on Jan. 17. Denny was recognized as the College Sports Madness Player of the Week on Dec. 7.
Prior to coming to BGSU, Kardok was a graduate assistant coach at the University of Miami from 2013-15, where he worked under head coach Jim Larrañaga and with current BGSU head coach Michael Huger.
Kardok helped Miami advance to the 2015 National Invitation Tournament (NIT) Championship Game at Madison Square Garden and to an overall record of 25-13, with the 25 wins being the second most all-time in school history. On the season, the Canes defeated three nationally ranked top 25 teams – at No. 8/7 Florida, vs. No. 24/25 Illinois and at No. 4/4 Duke – with two of those wins over ranked opponents coming on the road for the first time since 1998-99. With the Canes' win over Duke, the eventual 2015 NCAA Men's Basketball National Champions, Miami snapped Duke's home winning streak at 41 games, what was the longest active streak in NCAA Division I history at the time, and the Blue Devils' ACC home game winning streak at 19. The Canes also ended Florida's streak of consecutive home wins at 33 straight victories, which was the longest streak in the Gators' history.
The Parkland, Florida native, played for two seasons at the University of South Florida from 2008-10 where he earned his way on to the team as a walk-on after playing two years at Broward Community College from 2006-08.
Kardok, who averaged 17.0 points and 6.0 assists per game as a senior at Stoneman Douglas High School, graduated in 2010 with a degree in Finance from USF. He also has a master's degree in liberal studies from Miami.
