Flynn, Hubert Named Vito's Athletes Of The Week

Each week, the Bowling Green State University Athletic Department names the Vito's Athletes of the Week, as selected by the athletic communications department based on their athletic performances from the previous week. This week's winners are men's soccer player Pat Flynn and women's soccer player Erica Hubert.
Male Athlete of the Week
Pat Flynn, a senior from Naperville, Ill., picked up right where he left off a year ago, scoring a team-high six points as the Falcons opened the 2016 season with a pair of wins. Flynn, the Falcons' leading scorer in each of his first two seasons with the team, picked up the primary assist on back-to-back BG goals during the first half of the season opener vs. IUPUI, helping BG to a 3-0 halftime lead en route to a 4-0 win. Then, on Sunday, Flynn scored a pair of goals in the Falcons' 3-1 victory over Appalachian State. His first goal tied the score midway through the first half, and his second goal capped the scoring midway through the second period, giving BG a two-goal margin.
Female Athlete of the Week
Erica Hubert, a sophomore from Welland, Ontario, scored the game-winning goals in 1-0 victories over Eastern Illinois and Valparaiso that sparked the Falcons to a 2-0 start to the season. In the win over Eastern Illinois, she struck in the 88th minute to keep the game from going into overtime. She accounted for 12 of the Falcons' 27 shots on the night. She added another late goal against Valparaiso for another 1-0 victory.
