Men's Golf Completes First Day Of Action At Marshall Invitational

HUNTINGTON, W. Va. – The Bowling Green men's golf team kicked off fall action by completing the first day of the Joe Feaganes Marshall Invitational, held at the Berry Hills Country Club.
The Falcons finished the first two rounds with a +14 mark and total score of 574, and sit in fifth place overall of the 16 teams competing. Bowling Green currently trails host-school Marshall, who is fourth with a 566, +6 mark, while Eastern Kentucky leads the pack with a score of 552, -8.
"So far it's been a great start to the season," Bowling Green men's golf head coach Kevin Farrell said. "Although we all didn't play our best, everyone finished strong and I'm excited for the final round."
Bowling Green tallied the most eagles of any team on the day, with two, in addition to 12 birdies and 52 pars, with major contributions coming from redshirt sophomore Max Rispler. The Grand Rapids, Mich. native not only leads the Falcons as he is tied for 10th place overall, but Rispler also earned both eagles for the team. In the first day of competition, Rispler carded scores of 70 and 69 in the first and second rounds, respectively, for a 139, -1 finish on day one.
Trailing Rispler was senior Jose Narro, who carded scores of 71 and 74 for a first day total of 145, +5. Narrowly behind Narro was freshman Nick Hofland, who made his collegiate debut with scores of 74 and 72, for a mark of 146, +6. While Narro currently sits tied for 33rd, Hofland is close behind in a tie for 39th.
With a first day score of 149, +9, sophomore Pablo Heredia Inglesias carded rounds of 72 and 77 for a finish tied for 50th, while the final team competitor for the Falcons is senior Brett Rinker, who carded a 36-hole score of 154, +14 on the day.
Individually, junior Cameron Michalak is currently in a three-way tie for 61st place, as he carded first rounds of 75 and 76, for a first day final of 151, +11.
The third and final round of action for the Marshall Invitational will begin with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start tomorrow morning.
