BOWLING GREEN, Ohio -- The Bowling Green State University football team will celebrate Homecoming 2016 and the 50th anniversary of the opening of Doyt L. Perry Stadium  on Saturday, Oct. 1 when the Falcons host the Eastern Michigan University Eagles. The first game in Perry Stadium history, a 13-0 win over the University of Dayton, occurred on Oct. 1, 1966. Including that momentus first win, BGSU has earned 163 victories at home over the last 50 years. Against EMU, the Falcons are 25-11-1 all-time and have won 11 of the last 12 meetings dating back to 1990. The Eagles and Falcons last met iat Perry Stadium in 2012, a game won 24-3 by BGSU.Â
This game marks the first 2016 Mid-American Conference contest for the defending MAC champions and three-time defending MAC East champions. Kickoff is scheduled for 3:00 p.m., and the contest will be broadcast exclusively on ESPN3 and the Watch ESPN app. For those planning to attend the game, please see the information below.

The Bowling Green State University 2016 Homecoming celebration kicks off on Friday, Sept. 30. A full schedule of events can be found at the university's Homecoming web page, but here are a few athletics-related highlights:

Homecoming Ticket Promotion
Fans holding a ticket to the BGSU football game against Eastern Michigan will be eligible for free admission to Falcons' hockey exhibition versus Windsor at noon and the 7:00 p.m. BGSU volleyball match against Kent State. Simply present your football ticket at the BGSU Ice Arena and the Stroh Center to receive entry to both contests.
Doyt L. Perry Stadium 50th Anniversary
BGSU Athletics will host Eastern Michigan 50 years to the day after the first-ever game at Doyt Perry Stadium, a 13-0 win over Dayton on Oct. 1, 1966. As part of the game, there will be a give-away of 500 Perry Stadium replicas. There will be 250 each at Gate 2 and Gate 12, and there will be a limit of one replica per ticket holder. During the game, the scoreboard will display brief video packages about the eight games in the BGSUFalcons.com Point in Time features. Also, at the first timeout of the second quarter, sons of former BGSU football head coach and athletic director Doyt Perry and football head coach Bob Gibson will be recognzed on the field and presented with a gift. David and D.L. Perry, sons of Doyt Perry, and Doug Gibson, son of Bob Gibson, will be in attendance.
Falcon Football Tailgate Park:
The Falcon Football Tailgate Park is open three hours prior to every game. There will be a Kid Zone available beginning at 12:00 a.m.; it includes inflatables and face painting, and it is located at the northeast end of the sidewalk. There will be 17 different tents in the Tailgate Park this week, including the BGSU Alumni Association and several other alumni groups.

Falcon Club Party Deck at the Sebo Center
All Falcon Club members who annually contribute at the $250 level or higher are welcome to enjoy the game from the Falcon Club Party Deck, located on the second floor of the Sebo Center on the north end of the stadium. The area will open at 11:00 a.m., and eligible members can enter from the east side of the Sebo Center. Members will be checked in at the stairs leading to the second floor. Immediate family can join eligible members, while individual guests cost $15 (or $25 for an additional family).

Guests can watch the game from the outdoor deck or indoors via video screen. Snacks and complimentary water, coffee and hot chocolate will be available. A cash bar will be open in the lobby.

Homecoming Pep Rally and Falcon Team Walk
There will be a Homecoming pep rally in the parking lot of the Stroh Center beginning at 12:15 p.m., and the MC for the rally will be BGSU gymnastics head coach Kerrie Turner. The Falcon Marching Band and BGSU cheerleading squad will also be present. The BGSU football team will arrive for the pep rally, and the Falcon Team Walk will begin shortly afterwards. It will take place along the sidewalk on the southwest side of the stadium, between the Stroh Center and Doyt Perry Stadium. This is where the BGSU football team walks through a tunnel of fans, cheerleaders, dance team and band members, and all Falcons as they arrive at the stadium.

PreFlight with the Falcon Marching Band:
The PreFlight with the Falcon Marching Band will begin at 1:59 p.m. at the south end of the stadium. All fans are encouraged to watch this pregame performances, as the Falcons get fired up for the game against the Fighting Hawks.

The BGSU Ticket Office in the Stroh Center will NOT be open on Saturday. Tickets can be picked up or purchased at the Doyt Perry Stadium tickets booths. Accepted payment forms for ticket purchases are cash, Visa, MasterCard and Discover.

The general/public will call windows on the southeast side of the stadium will open at 12:30 p.m. BGSU Player Guest Will Call is located at Gate 9, while Visiting Team Will Call is located at Gate 14. For visitors, tickets purchased through BGSU should be picked up at the southeast booth, while tickets purchased through Eastern Michigan should be picked up at the Gate 14 booth. The booths at Gate 9 and Gate 14 will open at 2:00 p.m.; that is also the time all stadium gates will open.

Fans can also take advantage of BGSU's digital ticketing by clicking HERE. Fans can transfer unused tickets, print tickets from home, or pull up your tickets on your smart phone if you're at the game and forgot your tickets at home.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Fans who may choose to park in the BGSU Ice Arena Lot ($10 game-day parking) should be advised that there will be a hockey exhibition game at noon, and parking in that area will be limited due to fan attendance at the hockey game.

From north or south via I-75: Use exit 181 and turn west on Wooster Street. The stadium will be on your right.

From north or south via S.R. 25: Turn east on Wooster Street and travel past campus. The stadium will be on your left.

Falcon Club Recognition: At the first timeout in the first quarter, members of the Falcon Club All-American Society and Champions Club will be recognized on-field in the south end zone.
1991 Football Team Recognition: Also at the first timeout in the first quarter, members of the 1991 BGSU football team will be recognized in the north end zone for the team's 25th anniversary. The 1991 team went 11-1 and won the MAC Championship after going unbeaten in conference play. The team capped that season with an exciting 28-21 win over Fresno State in the California Raisin Bowl.
Academic Spotlight: During the second timeout of the first quarter, the BGSU Optimal Aging Institute will receive an on-field recognition.

Perry and Gibson Recognition and Presentation: At the first timeout of the second quarter, there will be an presentation to honor Doyt Perry and Bob Gibson. Perry was BGSU football coach from 1955-64 and athletic director from 1965-71. Gibson was the BGSU football coach in 1966 when Perry Stadium opened. David and D.L. Perry, sons of Doyt Perry, and Doug Gibson, son of Bob Gibson, will be on the field for the ceremony.Â
Halftime: The 2016 BGSU Homecoming Court will be honored on the field at the beginning of halftime. Following the homecoming court ceremony, the Falcon Marching Band will performing a show titled "A Night at the Movies: Significant Anniversaries in Film". The band will perform music from "Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory" (I've Got a Golden Ticket; Pure Imagination), "Top Gun" (Danger Zone; Mighty Wings), "Hook", and "Moulin Rouge" (Sparkling Diamonds).

Merchandise:
The Falcon Team Store will be open from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and is located in the Stroh Center. The Falcon Merchandise Tent, located by Gate 2 on the southwest side of the stadium, will be available beginning at 1:30 p.m. when stadium gates open. There will also be a merchandise kiosk on the east concourse of the stadium, and it will be available when gates open.

Game Day Programs:
The official BGSU football game day program will be available at stadium entrances and will also be sold during the game by local Boy Scout troops. The cost of a program is $5.

50/50 Raffle:
Tickets for the Taylor Automotive 50/50 Raffle will be sold throughout the stadium. The drawing will be conducted between the 3rd and 4th quarters, and proceeds will go to the Falcon Club to fund student-athlete scholarships.

Junior Falcon Club memberships are available through the Falcon Club. They are only $30 include a youth football season ticket, free admission to most home athletic events, a free t-shirt, and more. Lightning Delay Protocol
In the event of inclement weather, please be aware of plans for possible game delays due to lightning. When lightning strikes are spotted within eight miles of Doyt Perry Stadium, the game will be stopped, and the stands will be evacuated. Information about the delay will be relayed by the public address system, the game official, and the scoreboard. The primary safe areas for fans in the event of a delay are the restrooms underneath the stands, as well as the Sebo Center on the north end of the stadium. Secondary locations are the Stroh Center and the BGSU Ice Arena. For your safety, do NOT congregate in the open areas underneath the stands. Please retain your ticket for re-entry into the stadium.

Delays will last a minimum of 30 minutes from the time of the last lightning strike. Any new strikes would reset the "delay" clock to 30 minutes.
New Stadium Umbrella Policy
Beginning this week, all umbrellas will be allowed in Doyt L. Perry Stadium, and fans will be permitted to open umbrellas in the stadium.

Delays will last a minimum of 30 minutes from the time of the last lightning strike. Any new strikes would reset the "delay" clock to 30 minutes.
New Stadium Umbrella Policy
Beginning this week, all umbrellas will be allowed in Doyt L. Perry Stadium, and fans will be permitted to open umbrellas in the stadium.

Stadium Information:
- Students can enter the stadium through any gate, provided they have claimed their free ticket.
- Even sections are located on the east side of the stadium (8, 10, 12, 14, 16, 18, 20).
- Odd sections are located on the west side of the stadium (7, 9, 11, 13, 15, 17, 19, 21).
- First aid and the paramedics station will be located on the northwest side of the stadium.
- The BGSU marketing tent is located in the southwest corner of Doyt Perry Stadium.
- Customer service and stadium information will be located at the marketing tent. This is also the lost-and-found area. Lost-and-found will be open for 30 minutes after the game. If you have lost an item and lost-and-found is closed, please call Steve Messenger at 419-372-7263.
- Police officers will be located throughout the stadium.
- Bowling Green State University is a smoke-free campus. Smoking is not allowed inside the stadium. Please help us by smoking in the designated areas outside of Gate 2.
- Green Game Day is a joint program between Campus Sustainability and BGSU Athletics to reduce waste in and around Doyt Perry Stadium. You can help us tackle waste by using a "green" bag in the tailgate area and filling it with cans and bottles. In the stadium, please recycle cans and bottles in the appropriate containers provided.
