Aliyah Gustafson Named MAC Scholar-Athlete Of The Week

Cleveland, Ohio – Bowling Green State University redshirt junior Aliyah Gustafson was named the Mid-American Conference's Female Scholar-Athlete of the Week. Gustafson, who hails from Iowa City, Iowa, broke BGSU's school record in the shot put and maintains a 3.91 grade point average in exercise science.

The defending outdoor track and field Mid-American Conference champion in the shot put, Gustafson broke BGSU's indoor school record in the shot put at the Tom Wright Classic Friday night at Perry Field House on Bowling Green's campus. She threw 52-feet-10 to win the event and it was the second-longest throw in the MAC this year as well as the 18th longest in the country. Gustafson already holds BGSU's outdoor shot put record, which she set last year.

Bowling Green is back in action this weekend as the Falcons compete at two meets. The throwers will take part in Findlay's Elite Throws Meet, while the rest of the team will travel to Marshall for the Thundering Herd Invitational.
