Falcons Haunt Kent State in 44-16 Halloween Romp
October 31, 2017 | Football
Jarret Doege Throws Two TDs in Return to Action
BGSU took the opening kickoff and drove 75 yards in seven plays for a lead they would never relinquish. The primary thrust on the drive was a 43-yard run by Andrew Clair. That propelled Clair to a night of eight carries for 111 yards. It is his fourth consecutive 100-yard game, and he has 488 yards on 57 carries (8.56/rush) during that stretch. He is the first Falcon with four straight 100-yard games since Travis Greene put up five in a row from Nov. 5 to Dec. 6, 2013.
Cameron Jefferies made a spectacular play for his first career interception on Kent State's opening drive, and the Falcons turned that into a Jake Suder field goal. After a KSU punt, Bowling Green took over at their own 10. Big runs by Clair and Scot Miller, as well as an 18-yard pass from Doege to Quintin Morris on 3rd-and-9, put the Falcons back in scoring position. Doege threw a rainbow down the right sideline that Datrin Guyton caught for a 36-yard touchdown. It was his first touchdown at BGSU and put the Falcons up 17-0 in the first quarter.
Kent State closed to within 20-9 at halftime, but Bowling Green got rushing scores from Doege and Josh Cleveland in the third quarter and closed the scoring in the fourth when Doege threw a seven-yard touchdown pass to Teo Redding. Redding led the Falcons with five catches for 61 yards, all in the second half. The four-touchdown victory gives the Falcons a 2-7 overall record and a 2-3 mark in Mid-American Conference games.
