Cleveland, Ohio – Redshirt senior linebacker Nate Locke was named the Mid-American Conference East Division Defensive Player of the Week and freshman wide receiver Matthew Wilcox Jr. was named the MAC East Division Special Teams Player of the Week. The two were honored following Bowling Green's 44-16 win at Kent State on Halloween Night.
Locke totaled eight tackles, four tackles for loss and one sack in the victory. He picked up 4.0 tackles for loss, which matched his total through the first eight games of the season. On the season, Locke leads the Falcons with 8.0 tackles for loss, and is second on the team with 65 tackles. Locke also has 2.0 sacks, a fumble recovery and three quarterback hurries.
Wilcox had a huge day returning kicks in Bowling Green's 44-16 victory. He averaged 40.0 yards on three kick returns, including a 61-yard return that is BGSU's longest kick return since 2015. The 61-yard return gave the Falcons the ball at the Kent State 38. Bowling Green quickly drove the final 38 yards, and capped the big return with a touchdown drive. Wilcox also had a 38-yard return in the second quarter.
BGSU returns to action Tuesday night at Buffalo. The Falcons will face the Bulls at 7:30 pm in a game televised nationally on ESPNU.
