DAY ONE RESULTS (.pdf)
AKRON, Ohio -- Freshman Jordan Andrusak broke the school record in the 200 individual medley as the Bowling Green State University swimming and diving team competed in the first day of the 2017 Zippy Invitational on Friday (Dec. 1). The Falcons earned 402 points in six events, enough to rank third among the nine competing teams. BGSU athletes won the one-meter diving competition and earned separate third, fourth, and fifth-place finishes.
Andrusak, competing in only her fourth meet of the season, began the day by finishing in third place during the preliminary round of the 200 IM. She qualified for the championship final with a time of 2:02.22. That mark put her in second place on BGSU's all-time list, less than a half-second behind record-holder and teammate Franziska Wohlert (2:01.83). However, Andrusak was not finished. In the evening session, she improved her time by 1.5 seconds to establish a new school record of 2:00.72. She touched just 24 one-hundredths of a second behind the event winner and earned third place. She also met the B qualification standard for the 2018 NCAA Championships.
The Falcons added to Andrusak's school record with two other personal record swims and numerous season-best times. BGSU will resume the three-day meet at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday (Dec. 2) with preliminary rounds in seven events. The evening session begins at 6:00 p.m. and includes seven events.
