1968 NCAA Tournament Team’s 50th-Year Reunion Set For Jan. 20
December 20, 2017 | Men's Basketball
BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – On Jan. 20, when the BGSU men's basketball team takes on Central Michigan at the Stroh Center at 3:30 p.m., the program will honor the 1967-68 team, as members of the team and coaching staff return to campus. This season marks the 50-year anniversary of the team's MAC Championship and trip to the NCAA Tournament.
"It is a tremendous honor to have members of our 1968 team return to Bowling Green," said head coach Michael Huger. "These men were the last group to take BGSU to the NCAA Tournament, and they hold a special place in our program's history. It takes great talent, sacrifice, leadership and camaraderie to achieve what these men accomplished. Their legacy is one that all future teams can use as a blueprint for success. I'm proud to call them all Falcons and hope we can honor them not only today, but moving forward by hanging a banner next to theirs."
Among a number of other planned events, in-game promotions and video board content will focus on the 1967-68 team's success. On another note, the women's team plays at 1 p.m. on Jan. 20, and doors for that game will open at noon. Per Stroh Center doubleheader policy, the facility will not be cleared in between games.
