Antle, Sorgi Named Vito's Athletes Of The Week

Each week, the Bowling Green State University Athletic Department names the Vito's Athletes of the Week, as selected by the athletic communications department based on their athletic performances from the previous week. This week's winners are baseball player Chase Antle and softball player Alex Sorgi.
Male Athlete of the Week
Chase Antle, a sophomore from Grove City, Ohio, picked up his second collegiate win over the weekend, and made a total of two starts on the week. Across both of his starts, which totaled 8.0 innings, Antle struck out 12 batters, while yielding just six hits, one run and two walks. In a midweek start at Kent State on April 25, the right-hander struck out four over 3.0 scoreless innings, and did not surrender a walk, while giving up just two hits. In a win over Miami on April 30, Antle registered a career-high eight strikeouts across 5.0 innings of one-run ball. Antle walked two, and allowed just four hits. He struck out two Miami batters in three innings, and ended his start by leaving the tying run at second base.
Female Athlete of the Week
Alex Sorgi, a sophomore from Shelby Township, Mich. hit .545 in the Falcons' three-game series with Akron over the weekend, with at least one hit in every game and a total of four runs scored. Sorgi had a hit in each game of Friday's doubleheader, with a run scored and an RBI in the nightcap. Then, on Saturday, went a perfect 4-for-4 with a stolen base and three runs scored in BG's 8-2 win over the Zips. Her total of four hits was a career high, while her runs total tied a career best. Sorgi has started all 53 games this season, playing the first 39 in left field before moving to center field for the last 14 games due to a teammate's injury.
