BGSU Softball Hitting Academy Begins Monday

The Bowling Green State University softball program has announced a change of dates for the first camp of the summer. The Falcon Hit Club, which was postponed due to inclement weather on Tuesday, will now begin on Monday (June 19), and will also take place on June 26 and July 10 at Meserve Field.
The Falcon Hit Club will run from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on each day, and the three-week academy will emphasize offensive development through basic fundamental breakdown, analysis and drill progression. Participants will have the opportunity to work with the BGSU staff and players and learn the offensive philosophy behind the Falcon program. The academy will be open for aspiring softball players from age 13 through graduating high-school seniors.
NOTE: There are a limited number of spots available for the Falcon Hit Club.
In addition to the Falcon Hit Club, BG head coach Sarah Willis and her staff are offering multiple events this summer. Players of all ages and skill levels can find what they are looking for in one or more of the individual and team camps offered by head coach Sarah Willis and the Falcons at Meserve Field.
BGSU SOFTBALL CAMP REGISTRATION
• Falcon Hit Club - June 19, 26 & July 10
• Mid-Summer Prospect Camp - July 11
• Little Falcons - July 18
• Labor Day Camp - Sept. 4
On Tuesday, July 11, the Falcons will host the Mid-Summer Prospect Camp. The morning session will consist of pitchers & catchers, with an all-skills session in the afternoon. Pitchers and catchers can also participate in the afternoon session for a discounted price. Sessions are open for those in grades eight through 12 (graduating senior).
The first half of the Pitcher/Catcher Camp will focus on separate skill instruction for pitchers and catchers, and the second half of the camp will be geared toward the dynamic of the pitcher/catcher relationship. Campers will learn how to communicate and work with one another in both practice and game settings.
The All-Skills session will cover the essential fundamentals of both defense and offense. Campers will perform drills and learn techniques that will enhance their skills and maximize performance. Clinicians will also give feedback and provide athletes with an evaluation of technique. The first half of the session will be geared toward offense, and the second half will be focused on defense.
The Little Falcons program is scheduled for Tuesday, July 18. Little Falcons is geared toward aspiring players from grades three through seven. The instruction during this camp will be designed for younger players looking to develop and enhance the fundamentals of the game of softball. The BGSU coaching staff will lead each group based upon their expertise as college-level coaches. Athletes will learn advanced-level techniques under the watchful eyes of the BGSU coaches and players.
Last but not least, Coach Willis and her program will offer a Labor Day Camp on Monday, Sept. 4. The morning session will cover Elite Pitching and Catching, and BG coaches will give skill instruction along with an evaluation of technique. Pitchers will receive individualized attention and be able to work on essential fundaments to enhance skill and maximize performance, while catchers will work on in-game skills and game strategies that will enhance their game management skills.
The afternoon session of the Labor Day Camp will cover the essential fundamentals of offense and defense. Campers will perform drills and learn hitting techniques that will enhance hitting performance. They will then be able to focus on the basic fundamentals of defense. This will be geared toward maximizing a player's skills at her primary position.
