Volleyball Earns Dominant Sweep Over Southeastern Louisiana

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – The Bowling Green volleyball program (2-3) rounded out the BGSU/Toledo Invitational with a dominant 3-0 (25-15, 25-17-25-12) sweep of Southeastern Louisiana (0-6) at home. By posting eight kills on 11 swings in tonight's match, junior Madeline Brandewie was named to the 2017 BGSU/Toledo Invitational All-Tournament Team.

Falcon Stat Facts
- There were five Falcons to tally seven kills or more over the course of the three sets, including freshman Katie Kidwell (10), freshman Jacqueline Askin (9), junior Madeline Brandewie (8), sophomore Celena Kanagin (7) and senior Nicole Slimko (7).
- Defensively, Brandewie led the team with three block assists and one solo block of the team's 6.5 on the night. Brandewie also accounted for one of the Falcons five aces.
- By hitting a team total of .347 on the night, the Falcons attack marked the most effective offense of the season. After five matches, Bowling Green now holds a team attack percentage of .192.
- Junior libero Kallie Seimet tallied 12 digs on the night, for a two-match total of 38 in the BGSU/Toledo Invitational.
- Two of the Falcons' five service aces came from junior Ryann Cox, which were her first aces of the season.
- Bowling Green held the advantage over Southeastern Louisiana in nearly every statistical category, including kills (45-24), attack percentage (.347-.022), assists (38-24), digs (41-33), aces (5-1) and total team blocks (6.5-3.0).
- Both of Bowling Green's victories this season have now come in sweeps of its opponents (vs. Duquesne on Aug. 25 & vs. SLU on Sept. 2).
Play-by-Play
- In the first set, Bowling Green began to break ahead at the 15 point marker, and ultimately went on a seven-point run to finish with an opening set win at 25-15.
- The Falcons then forced SLU to call an early timeout at 6-2 in the second set after they carried over its momentum with big attacking plays. Bowling Green continued to keep a steady five-point lead through the second set, and as the Lions called its second timeout of the set, the Falcons held a 19-7 lead and was hitting .431.
- Bowling Green continued to rise to an early lead in the third set, as they went up 9-2 heading into Southeastern Louisiana's first timeout. Marciniak and Brandewie teamed up to serve as the Falcons went on a 7-1 run to go up 19-8 in the final set.

- The Falcons will hit the road for the first time this season as they travel to Highland Heights, Ky. to compete in the NKU Invitational from Sept. 8-9. Bowling Green will face Sacramento State and Seattle, prior to taking on the host Northern Kentucky on Sept. 9.
