Men's Golf Tees Off 2017-18 Season Friday

Zionsville, Ind. - BGSU Men's Golf will open its season at the Wolf Run Intercollegiate Invitational hosted by Indiana University this weekend. The invitational will take place at Wolf Run Golf Course in Zionsville, Ind. Friday through Sunday. The Falcons will face 15 teams including MAC competitors Ball State, Miami and Toledo as well as non-conference competitors Arkansas State, Central Florida, Fort Wayne, IUPUI, Kentucky, North Carolina State, North Texas, Southern Illinois, Western Kentucky and Xavier.

Led by head coach Kevin Farrell opening his sixth season, the Falcons carded a stroke average of 294.74 in the 2016-17 campaign. BGSU marked three top-10 finishes on the year, including a runner-up finish at the 2017 Border Olympics. As a team, the Falcons posted 20 rounds with a team score of 300 or below on the year.
Individually, Max Rispler was named MAC Golfer of the Week on two occasions, while as a senior, Jose Narro was named to 2017 All-MAC Second Team. Narro matched his 2014-15 single season stroke average of 73.22 in the 2016-17 season, to tie for second all-time in the Bowling Green record books, ultimately concluding his career with the best career scoring average of 73.51 in program history. Additionally, Narro and Pablo Heredia Iglesias was named to 2017 Academic All-MAC.

The Falcons start their season with a roster of nine, including two newcomers. The lone senior returning for the Falcons is Mitchell Kontak. Juniors are Noah Firestone, Pablo Heredia Iglesias, Max Rispler and Trey Walker. The only sophomore for the Falcons is Nick Hofland. Rounding out the roster for the Falcons are freshmen Ward Kyle of Ontario, Canada and Rodrigue Vie of Epinal, France.
