Falcons Open 2017-18 Season At Redbird Invitational

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – The Bowling Green State University women's golf program opens up the 2017-18 season at the Redbird Invitational at Illinois State University. The tournament, which will take place at the Weibring Golf Club, will run from Sept. 10-11. The event is one of six tournaments that the Falcons will compete in over the fall portion of the schedule.
THE FALCONS AT THE REDBIRD INVITATIONAL
* The tournament will begin with 36 holes (two rounds) on Sunday, Sept. 10, followed by the final 18 holes on Monday, Sept. 11. Both days will begin with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m.
* BGSU has now opened its fall schedule at the Redbird Invitational in every season since 2011-12.
* Bowling Green won the Redbird Invitational in 2015-16 with a team score of 905.
THE FIELD
* The Redbird invitational, including Bowling Green, will have a total of 12 teams competing. The field also includes MAC foes Ball State, Northern Illinois and Ohio.
* The 12-team field includes: Ball State, Bowling Green, Bradley, Illinois State, Illinois Wesleyan, IUPUI, Loyola, Northern Illinois, Ohio, Southern Illinois, Valparaiso and Western Illinois.

Nichole Cox
Making her collegiate debut on Sunday … Four-year letterwinner at Maple City Glen Lake … Posted a career-best scoring average of 74.0 across her senior season … Claimed the individual Michigan state title in her final three seasons at Maple City Glen Lake, while also finishing third in the state of Michigan as a freshman.
Jessica Madry
Appeared in 11 tournaments as a freshman in 2016-17 … Posted a stroke average of 81.05 over 22 rounds of action last season … Placed third overall at the Pine Hills Shootout, which marked a season high … Tallied nine rounds with a score of 79 or under … Marked a season-best round of 75 on the second day of the ORU/SFA Spring Break Shootout.
Sammi Blackburn
Along with fellow freshman Nichole Cox, will be making her Falcon debut at the Redbird Invitational … Four-year letterwinner at Monroe High School … Finished third in the state in 2015 and 2016 … Named Second Team All-Ohio for the 2015-16 campaign … Member of the Monroe Honor Roll from 2013-16.
Sarah Kern
Competed in her first season with the Falcons in 2016-17, making the lineup three times and playing as an individual on three occasions … Named Academic All-MAC … Posted a stroke average of 84.50 across 14 rounds of action … Posted a career-best 74 at the third round of last year's Cardinal Classic … Posted an excellent 5-1-0 mark in match play.
