AKRON, Ohio – The University of Akron hit a three-pointer with 3.4 seconds left to beat the Bowling Green State University men's basketball team, 80-78, Saturday (Jan. 13) afternoon at James A. Rhodes Arena.
The triple came after a missed UA shot, but the Zips pulled down the offensive rebound. Virshon Cotton then hit a three-ball over two Falcons. The Zips then elected to intentionally foul, not allowing the Falcons to attempt a game-tying trey.
Justin Turner, who finished with a game-high 30 points, hit the first free throw. He then purposely missed the next, but the Falcons were unable to extend the game after a scramble for the ball.
