January 14, 2018 | Women's Swimming & Diving
BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Talisa Lemke won the individual championship and was one of four Falcons to score points, as the Bowling Green State University divers won the 2018 Buffalo Diving Invitational. The three-day meet was held from Friday, Jan. 12 through Sunday, Jan. 14 and included one-meter, three-meter, and platform diving competitions. Lemke won the one-meter competition, finished second in the three-meter, and earned a meet-best 37 points. BGSU totaled 106 points and defeated five other schools, including Mid-American Conference foes Buffalo, Ohio, and Toledo.
This weekend's meet featured a preliminary round and a championship round in each event. On Saturday, Lemke once again broke her own school record in the one-meter diving with a 302.30 in the preliminaries. This is the fourth time in the 2017-18 season that Lemke has broken this record. It began the season at 293.15 and has steadily increased to 298.20 (EMU), 299.09 (Miami), and 300.97 (Michigan State). Later in the evening, she won the one-meter championship with a 300.10. Lemke also competed in the three-meter on Friday, and although she did not approach her school record (339.22), she finished second in both the preliminary (291.30) and championship rounds (291.40).
Two other BGSU divers set personal records at the meet. Emily Kellerman scored a 212.85 in the one-meter to break her previous best (209.70) and finish in 11th place out of 21 divers. Meanwhile, Ashley White qualified for the one-meter final with a fifth-place 234.00 in the opening round. She followed that with a 265.95 in the final, which earned second place behind Lemke and shattered her personal best (250.80).
