COACH TOMIC QUOTE:Â
"This was a big road win for us. We knew going into the match that EMU is a tough team with a strong offense and scrappy defense that will fight till the end. In order to beat them, we had to play a very disciplined match and execute our game plan. When we did that, we ran our offense and played defense based on our strengths.
Â
Our players showed a lot of mental toughness and grit because we were not in an offensive rhythm and our efficiency wasn't where we wanted it to be, but we stayed poised and won the points that matter the most."
HIGHLIGHTSÂ
• The Eagles had seven attack errors in the first set, and allowed the Falcons to lead by as many as seven points (18-11) before Eastern Michigan cut that lead to one point near the end of the first set (24-23). The Falcons won the set in the next rally 25-23.
• Attack efficiency tanked in the second set for the Falcons in which the team swung at a poor .050 hitting percentage. The Orange and Brown gave up the second set by a five-point margin, 20-25.
• The Falcons were initially trailing in fourth set before the team went on a six-point scoring run to lead the set 18-13. The Falcons won the set (25-22) for their fourth consecutive victory since their defeat to the Western Michigan Broncos.
• There were a total of 59 errors in the match. The Falcons ended with 23 attacking errors, and four errors from the end line. Eastern Michigan's error tally is made up of 24 attacking errors and eight service errors.
