Falcons Win To Split Series With Robert Morris

Bowling Green, Ohio – The Falcons did not disappoint in their home opener, giving the fans a 6-0 victory over the Colonials of Robert Morris on Sunday (Oct. 14). The Slater Family Ice Arena was packed and the home team delivered, outshooting Robert Morris 33-15. The Falcons were led by Brandon Kruse, who contributed two goals and an assist for the night. Kruse was joined by four other Falcons in the scoring column, including John Schilling who had his first goal of the season. On the defensive end, Ryan Bednard concluded with 15 saves on his way to a shutout. This was the conclusion of a home-and-home series with Robert Morris. The Colonials took the first game of the series 3-2.

- Lukas Craggs broke open the gates with the first goal of the game, coming at 13:10 remaining in the first. This was Craggs' second goal on the season. Carson Musser and Connor McDonald were in on the assists for the Falcons.
- At 12:07 in the first, Connor Ford found the back of the net for a power play goal. The assists were credited to Brandon Kruse and Max Johnson, giving the Falcons an early 2-0 lead.
- In the second period, Brandon Kruse added to his stat line, scoring his first goal of the season at 10:13 on a power play, giving him a goal and an assist on the night. Cameron Wright and Max Johnson added to their season assist counts on the goal as well.
- John Schilling was able to join in on the fun, scoring his first goal of the season on a breakaway. Sam Craggs was his partner in crime on the play, tallying his first points of the season.
- Brandon Kruse capitalized for his second power play goal of the night, scoring with 8:15 left in the game. Max Johnson was in for his third assist of the game, while Connor Ford added an assist as well.
- The final goal of the game came just 25 seconds later at 7:50, when Casey Linkenheld was able to sneak the puck through for his third goal of the season. Jacob Dalton and Matt Meier were able to put up numbers in the assist column on the goal.

- Early in the first period, BGSU survived back-to-back Robert Morris power plays to keep the score at zeros.
- After a slow start, the Falcons fired five unanswered shots on goal en route to taking their 2-0 lead. This gave Bowling Green the advantage in the shot department early and helped create momentum for the first period.
- Power plays became a vital aspect of the game for the Falcons, scoring on two of four during the first two periods.
- When the ice dust settled, shots on goal proved to be a big aspect of the Falcons win, as they held a 33-15 advantage at the game's conclusion.

- Max Johnson and Brandon Kruse now lead the Falcons in total points for the season with seven a piece. Johnson added three assists to his total, while Kruse came away with two goals and an assist.
- Ryan Bednard was able to capture his first shutout of the season between the posts, giving him a 3-0 record thus far. The shutout gives him five throughout his career at BGSU after having three last season and one during his freshman campaign.
- The Falcons are off to a 3-1 record, their best start since the 2015-16 campaign.

- The Falcons will back action on Tuesday night (Oct. 23) at 7:37 p.m. when they host Western Michigan at Slater Family Ice Arena. This will be the final game of Bowling Green's brief home stand. The Falcons previously traveled to Kalamazoo, Mich. on Oct. 9 for the first part of the home-and-home series with the Broncos. BGSU closed out the first meeting on the winning side of the 6-2 final.
