Falcons Tennis Head North To Compete In ITA Midwest Regional Championships

The Bowling Green State University tennis program will travel north for the ITA Midwest Regional Championships hosted by the University of Michigan. The championships will take place from Oct. 18 to Oct. 23 at the Varsity Tennis Center.

Winners from the main singles and doubles draws will receive automatic berths to the Oracle ITA National Fall Championships. The qualifying singles draw were released just hours ago; the main doubles draw will be available Thursday evening, and the main singles draw will be available on Saturday.

A record of seven Falcon tennis players competed in last year's ITA Midwest regionals. Paula Comella and Marharita-Sophia Tavpash both made appearances in the singles main draws, and three Falcon pairings (Comella and Marta Bettinelli, Polina Radeva and Ayumi Sasaki, Tavpash and Vanesa Pardo) competed in the doubles main draws.

Radeva, Pardo, Sasaki, Bettinelli, and Tavpash will all be competing in this year's ITA Midwest Regional Championships. From 64 athletes invited to compete in the championship, Tavpash is in the mix for the five through eight seed. The junior from Lviv, Ukraine is currently 9-0 in singles, and 9-1 in the doubles with senior Paula Comella.
