NOTE OF THE NIGHT
• BGSU's win at Cincinnati on Tuesday night was the Falcons' first multiple-goal victory of the season. BG's last two-goal win was a 3-1 victory over Northern Illinois last October 28.
• The UC match was the Falcons' first multiple-goal victory on the road since a 2-0 win at Penn on Sept. 3, 2017.
FIRST-HALF HIGHLIGHTS
• 1' | BGSU had the ball in the UC penalty area within 10 seconds after the opening kickoff, but the Falcons could not get a shot off. Senior Peter Pugliese slid a left-side pass toward sophomore Chris Sullivan in the box, but Sullivan went to the ground as he attempted to make a spin move.
• 3' | UC's Austin Smythe received a forward pass on the right side of the field and quickly hit a one-timer, but the shot was hit directly at BGSU 'keeper Anthony Mwembia.
• 11' | An offside call nullified a possible BG scoring chance, as Sullivan attempted to slide a pass to junior Charlie Maciejewski on the right side of the box.
• 15' | The Bearcats were whistled for a foul approximately 30 yards from goal, and senior Tate Robertson's ensuing free kick whizzed just over the crossbar.
• 19' | Achille Robin played a ball over the top to Robertson, who hit a shot/cross from near the end line. The ball went just past the far post.
• 21' | Peter Pugliese and Sullivan worked some give-and-go magic, and Pugliese's left-side cross was headed back the other way by senior Ebenezer Ackon. Classmate Moe Mustafa got his head on Ackon's pass, but Mustafa's shot went wide of the right post.
• 24' | Robertson's long throw-in sailed over Mustafa and a defender at the near post. Another UC backliner whiffed on an attempted clearance and Mustafa quickly fired a shot, but it was smothered by UC 'keeper Noah Lawrence just inside the post.
• 25' | Robertson found Pugliese swooping into the box on the left side, and Pugliese played a ball across the goal line, but the ball went out of play on the far side.
• 26' | Less than a minute later, Pugliese turnstiled his would-be defender on the left side, and slid another cross through the box near the end line. That ball, however, was untouched as well, and went out of play on the far side.
• 35' | Freshman Kale Nichols hustled downfield to reach a long serve, and played a one-time cross into the box from the right side. Pugliese redirected it on frame, but Lawrence was able to make the stop.
• 45' | Sullivan sent the ball out wide right to Nichols, and the freshman hit a dangerous low cross into the box, but it was grabbed by a diving Lawrence in the final seconds ticked away.
SECOND-HALF HIGHLIGHTS
• 48' | After BGSU had controlled the play for nearly the entire first half, UC came out strong to begin the second. The Bearcats generated a solid scoring chance as a diagonal ball found Austin Smythe in the box, but Mwembia blocked the ball from point-blank range, then jumped on the loose ball.
• 53' | GOAL | Pugliese raced down the left side of the field to catch up to a pass from Maciejewski, and slid the ball to Robertson near the top of the box. Robertson made several moves to create space, and hit a low shot that went just inside the left post.
• 55' | Sophomore Vinny Worner came into the box on the right side, bringing the ball near the end line. His centering ball was behind Robertson, but the senior tapped it back to sophomore Zach Buescher. Buescher's curving shot from just outside the box, however, spun just wide of the right post.
• 57' | Mwembia came up with a big save on Ryan Melink, as the 'keeper parried the hard shot from the left side of the box.
• 58' | Off of the ensuing corner kick, Mohamed Elmandi got his head on the ball, but his shot was wide of the far post.
• 59' | BG worked the ball into the box, and Robertson laid it off for Buescher, but Buescher's blast went wide left.
• 60' | Sullivan played Robertson through, and the senior poked the ball past the onrushing 'keeper, off the far post and in, but the Falcons were offside on the play.
• 63' | GOAL | BG won a corner, and Robertson quickly played a short pass to Sullivan. Sullivan's right-side cross found the head of Robin, who nodded it into the far side of the net, just under the crossbar.
• 74' | Nichols stole the ball on the right side and attempted to quickly send it ahead to Maciejewski, but a UC defender was able to shield the BG junior from the ball as they raced across the top of the 18.
• 81' | BG won a free kick on the right side, and Robertson's serve was headed by Maciejewski at the far post, but the junior's shot hit the outside netting.
• 83' | Buescher played a ball forward to Robertson, who raced past a defender and hit a hard, low shot that skimmed inches wide of the left post.
