Kennedy Named MAC Defensive Player of the Week

Kennedy, a native of Cypress, Calif. (Los Alamitos), played all 90 minutes and was involved in the scoring of both BGSU goals as the Falcons topped Toledo, 2-1, in Thursday's (Oct. 25) regular-season finale. The junior had the game-winning goal and helped BG limit the UT offense to just one shot on goal in the match, as the Falcons finished the regular season with a MAC record of 10-1-0. BGSU has set school records for total MAC wins and best conference winning percentage in a season.

Against the Rockets, Kennedy had the assist on freshman Sarah Allen's tying goal midway through the second half, playing a diagonal ball to Allen on the far side of the six-yard box. Then, the junior stepped up and converted a penalty kick with just 8:58 to go in the second half, giving BG the lead for good.

Kennedy now has 17 points on the season, on four goals and nine assists. She is tied for the team lead in assists, and is just one shy of the single-season record – a record that she already shares after recording 10 assists a year ago. In MAC matches, Kennedy finished in the top 10 in the league in points, and she was ranked second in the conference in assists.

BGSU is 12-4-2 overall entering the MAC Tournament, and the Falcons will host Eastern Michigan on Sunday afternoon (Oct. 28) in a 1:00 p.m. start at Cochrane Stadium. Admission is free.
