SETTING THE SCENE / FOLLOW THE FALCONS
• The Bowling Green State University women's soccer team returns home for a key Mid-American matchup as the regular season begins to wind down. Head coach Chris Fox and the Falcons face the University at Buffalo on Saturday afternoon (Oct. 24), with first touch set for 1:00 p.m. at Cochrane Stadium. Admission – as is the case for all BGSU women's soccer home matches – is free.
TODAY'S PAGE-ONE-WORTHY NOTES
• With three matches to go in the regular season, the Falcons are tied for seventh place in the 12-team MAC standings. BGSU is two points shy of fourth place and three points out of third. The top six teams at the end of the regular season will qualify for the MAC Tournament, which begins on Sat., Nov. 7, at ScottsMiracle-Gro Field in Columbus.
• A total of 16 Falcons have started at least one match this season to date. That total increased by three last week, as both freshman Olivia McCuen and sophomore Mia Gatz were in the Starting XI for the Toledo match (Oct. 15). It was the first start of the season for both players, and the second career start for Gatz.
• Then, at Kent State (Oct. 18), sophomore Olivia Schneider made not only her BGSU debut, but her first collegiate start. Schneider started the KSU match and played 80 minutes.
