BGSU Tennis Dominates Doubles Matchups In Day Two Of The Viking Invitational

The Bowling Green State University tennis program competed in day two of the Vikings invitational on Saturday, Oct. 6. The Falcons faced Connecticut and Cleveland State in separate rounds of doubles, and went up against Akron in a round of singles.
In doubles play, the Falcons won two of three matches against the Connecticut Huskies, and completed a sweep over Cleveland State, winning all three matches against the Vikings to ultimately clinch five of six doubles matches.

In singles action, the Falcons won three of the seven matches at stake versus the Akron Zips. Â
DOUBLES HIGHLIGHTS
• Paula Comella and Marharita-Sophia Tavpash team up once again to defeat Connecticut pair Gillian Perrotta and Jeanne Bou (6-4), and Vikings pair Gaby Schoenberg and Lara Prosenjak (6-2).
• Polina Rodeva and Ayumi Sasaki also grabbed a pair of doubles wins against the Huskies (7-5) and Vikings (6-2).
• Vanesa Pardo and Marta Bettinelli fell to the Huskies (6-3), but brushed off the defeat to win against Vikings pair Blanche Lenoan and Lauren Longo (6-1).
SINGLES HIGHLIGHTS
• Tavpash (7-5, 6-4), Sasaki ((1-6, 6-2, 1-0 (7)), and Bettinelli ((6-2, 2-6, 1-0(8)) were the only Falcon tennis players to defeat the Akron rival in singles action.

WHAT'S NEXT
The Falcons will compete in the final day of the Vikings Invitational before they head to Ann Arbor, MI to compete in the ITA Regionals from Thursday, Oct. 18 to Tuesday, Oct. 23.
