
No. 12 Bowling Green Completes The Series Sweep With Win At UAH

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – The No. 12 ranked Bowling Green State University hockey team completed the series sweep of Alabama Huntsville on Sunday (Dec. 2) evening, winning game two by a final score of two to one. The Falcons would get 37 shots on goal finding the back of the net twice. Casey Linkenheld would put the Falcons up early batting the puck in on a one timer. Alabama Huntsville would get one back on an own goal from BGSU following a passing error during a delayed penalty. Lukas Craggs would score the game winning goal early in the third period to lift the Falcons over the Chargers. This was his third goal of the series. Bowling Green gets their first WCHA series sweep of the 2018-19 season, and has won three straight games. The Orange and Brown will return the ice next weekend as they travel to Ferris State University for a two game series (Dec. 7-8). Puck drop for both games will be at 7:07 pm.

Scoring Plays
- Casey Linkehled would open the scoring for the Falcons on a one timer at 11:05 into the first period. He was assisted by Shane Bednard and Alex Barber.
- At 13:40 into the first period, an error in passing netted a goal for Alabama Huntsville into an empty net during a delayed penalty for the Falcons. Officially Jack Jeffers of UAH was credited with the score.
- Just 48 seconds into the third period, Lukas Craggs would follow a loose puck into the offensive zone solo. He collected it and scored a backhander to give the Falcons a two to one lead.
Other Key Plays
- The Falcons and Chargers battled to a tie following the first period. The second saw both teams generate chances testing the goaltending throughout including a three on two opportunity by UAH. BGSU would counter with an immediate three on one chance. Great saves on both ends kept the game tied at one. The tie would be broken in the third period.
Falcon Stat Facts
- Lukas Craggs' game winning goal in the third period was his third goal of the series. This was his ninth goal of the season, and number 26 of his career. Lukas Craggs is now on a two game score streak.
- Eric Dop with his 14 saves gains his first win of the season bringing his record to 1-1-1. This was the ninth win of his career between the pipes for Bowling Green.
- With an assist in today's contest, Alex Barber picked up his second point of the weekend extending his point streak to two games.
- Shane Bednard tallied his first point of the 2018-19 season with an assist on Casey Linkenheld's goal. This was assist number 12 in his career.
- With this victory the Falcons tally win number 10 on the season bringing their record to 10-3-2. This is their first sweep of a WCHA opponent on the season. This is also Bowling Green's second sweep in general following their victories against Western Michigan earlier this season. The Falcons are now on a three game winning streak.
Coach Bergeron's Take
- "We are really happy with the sweep. I thought we played really well tonight. We generated a bunch of chances. And really the worst part of our game was around the other team's net in terms of our finish. But our effort was good and I thought we executed for the most part. I feel we got what we deserved tonight."
- On Lukas Craggs' big weekend, "When he's skating and he's competitive, he's a really good player. We expect him to be one of our top guys and he was that."
