Aliyah Gustafson Named MAC Field Athlete Of The Week

Cleveland, Ohio - Bowling Green State University redshirt senior Aliyah Gustafson has been named the Mid-American Conference Field Athlete of the Week for the opening weekend of the 2018-19 indoor track & field season. Gustafson had a dominant performance at the BG Opener, winning a pair of events.
A three-time All-American in the shot put, Gustafson got her final collegiate season started with a bang, winning the event with a throw of 50-feet-6.25. That distance ranks second in the country and she is one of just five student-athletes to have recorded a mark over 50-feet this year.
Gustafson opened the meet by winning the weight throw with a distance of 62-4. She also ranks in the top 10 nationally in that event at No. 9 and is one of only 12 student-athletes (along with teammate Kaila Butler) who have surpassed 60-feet this year.
BGSUÂ is off until returning to competition Jan. 12 at the Wolverine Invitational, hosted by Michigan. The next week, the Falcons will host Toledo for a dual meet Jan. 18.
