Elizabeth Iversen Named MAC Field Athlete Of The Week

Cleveland, Ohio – Bowling Green State University redshirt senior Elizabeth Iversen has been named the Mid-American Conference's Field Athlete of the Week. Iversen earned the award for the second time this year after posting a new personal best in the shot put and catapulting herself into contention for a bid to the NCAA Indoor Track & Field National Championships.
Iversen threw the shot put 54-feet-11.25 (16.74m) Friday evening at The Big Meet, hosted by Grand Valley State. Her throw was almost four feet further than she had previously tossed. In fact, all six of her throws in the series would have been a personal best.
Overall, Iversen ranks second in the MAC in the shot put (behind only teammate Aliyah Gustafson) and is positioned No. 15 in the country. The top 16 shot putters will advance to the NCAA Indoor Track & Field National Championships. Heading into the weekend, she was ranked No. 44.
Bowling Green has now earned MAC Field Athlete of the Week honors four times this year with both Iversen and Gustafson earning the award twice. The duo ranks as the top two in the MAC in the shot put and are both among the top three in the weight throw.
