Falcons Prepare for MAC Championships at Michigan First Chance Meet
February 16, 2018 | Women's Swimming & Diving
BOWLING GREEN, Ohio -- Three athletes from the Bowling Green State University swimming and diving team will compete this weekend at the 2018 Michigan First Chance Meet. This weekend's trip hands these Falcons another opportunity to build their times and potentially qualify for the NCAA championship meet. This two-day event will be held in Ann Arbor, Mich. at the University of Michigan's Canham Natatorium. Both days will be broken up into two sessions beginning at 11:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., respectively. There will be no team scoring this weekend, but a full slate of 18 events are scheduled.
The three traveling Falcons are sophomore Meghan Burnard, sophomore Anna Griesbach, and redshirt junior Caroline Neely. Burnard will compete in the 100 butterfly, 500 freestyle, and 1650 freestyle. Neely will join Burnard in those three events and will also swim in the 200 freestyle. Griesbach is also scheduled to swim in the 100 butterfly and will race in the 100 and 200 backstroke events. The 500 freestyle is part of the first session (Saturday, 11:00 a.m.). The second session (Saturday, 5:00 p.m.) includes the 200 freestyle, 100 butterfly, and 100 backstroke. The 1650 freestyle and 200 backstroke are scheduled during Sunday's opening session.
This opportunity represents BGSU's final action in the pool prior to next week's Mid-American Conference Championships (Feb. 21-24) in Athens, Ohio.
HEAD COACH MATT ENSE SAYS...
"The Michigan First Chance meet will provide a great start to our Championship season swimming in a great facility with a great environment. It will be a smaller meet but the facility is a very fast one and will provide our women a great chance to swim fast."
