Craggs, East Named Jet's Pizza Athletes Of The Week
February 19, 2018 | General, Ice Hockey, Gymnastics
Each week, the Bowling Green State University Athletic Department names the Jet's Pizza Athletes of the Week, as selected by the athletic communications department based on their athletic performances from the previous week. This week's winners are hockey player Lukas Craggs and gymnast Jovannah East.
Male Athlete of the Week
Lukas Craggs, a sophomore from Elmhurst, Ill., tallied three points by two goals and one assist in a weekend sweep of Alaska Anchorage. In Thursday's 5-2 victory, Craggs broke a 2-2 stalemate with a goal midway through the third period, before tallying an empty-netter in the final minute to seal the victory. It marked Craggs' third multi-goal game of the season, while he also tallied four shots on goal with a plus-2 rating. His first goal on the night went on to stand as the game-winner. On Friday, he helped get the Falcons on the board by notching the lone assist on the opening goal of the night to put the Falcons up 1-0 over the Seawolves. On the weekend, Craggs' three points were accompanied by six shots on goal and a plus-3 rating on the ice.
Female Athlete of the Week
Jovannah East, a sophomore from Zion, Ill., competed as an all-around gymnast for the first time in her BGSU career on Sunday at New Hampshire.
