ATHENS, Ohio – The Bowling Green State University men's basketball team was defeated by Ohio University, 75-59, Tuesday (Feb. 27) night in Athens, Ohio. The game was played at OU's Convocation Center.
Bowling Green falls to 16-14 (7-10 MAC) with the loss, while Ohio improves to 13-16 (6-11 MAC) with the victory.
The Bobcats led by 12 in the half, and maintained a double-digit lead throughout the entire second half. Ohio went 10-for-23 (43.5 percent) from downtown, and limited the Falcons to 39.3 percent (24-of-61) shooting for the game.
In order to get a home game in the first round of the MAC Tournament, the Falcons need to beat Buffalo on Friday (March 2) night, or Western Michigan needs to win at Central Michigan.
PLAYER NOTES
• Junior forward Demajeo Wiggins finished the game with 18 points and 15 rebounds, marking his sixth-consecutive double-double. In 2016-17, Wiggins posted six double-doubles on the entire season.
• Wiggins has now recorded 15 double-doubles in 2017-18. He's posted 15-plus rebounds in six games this season.
• Redshirt-freshman guard Justin Turner was the only other Falcon to score in double figures. Turner finished with 14 points, four rebounds, three steals and one assist.
• Sophomore guard Dylan Frye added six points, four rebounds, three assists and one steal.
• Freshman guard Nelly Cummings scored five points off the BGSU bench, marking the most points he's scored in a game since scoring five points at Northern Illinois on Jan. 23.
• Freshman forward Derek Koch contributed with four points and four rebounds.
• Freshman center Joniya Gadson tied a career high with four points. He also tied a conference career high with three rebounds.
• Senior guard Matt Fox hit a triple to finish with three points and one rebound.
• Junior guard De Andre' Austin, in one minute, posted two points, two rebounds and one assist
• Freshman forward Daeqwon Plowden played in his 30th-consecutive game. He registered two points and two rebounds.
