Aliyah Gustafson Named Second Team All-American

Bowling Green, Ohio – Bowling Green State University redshirt senior was named second team All-American by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) following her performance at the NCAA Indoor Track & Field National Championships over the weekend.
Gustafson placed tenth in the shot put at the national championships, missing out on the nine-woman finals by just six inches. After fouling on her first attempt, Gustafson regrouped for a toss of 53-feet-10.5 (16.42m) on her final throw.
The recognition came on the heels of one of the greatest individual seasons in program history. Gustafson broke the school record in the shot put on numerous occasions, closing out her career with a personal best 57-2 (17.42m). She won the MAC Championship in dominant fashion and added a MAC runner-up finish in the weight throw. The BGSU indoor track and field team finished third at the MAC Championships, its best team result in 19 years.
For Gustafson, it is the second time she has been recognized as an All-American. After qualifying for the 2016 Outdoor Track & Field National Championships in the shot put, she was named honorable mention All-American.
