Tennis Concludes Road Stretch with Loss at No. 23 Ohio State

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Bowling Green tennis program (6-5) suffered a 7-0 setback to No. 23 Ohio State (7-4) Tuesday afternoon. The match against the nationally ranked program marks the conclusion of an eight-match road stretch for the Falcons, before they return home for a pair of dual matches this weekend.

Statistical Standouts
- At No. 1 doubles, the pairing of junior Paula Comella and sophomore Marharita-Sophia Tavpash held a narrow match with their competitors, as they were tied at 5-5 before it became an unfinished match. The duo holds a record of 7-3 on the season.
- A first for the season, junior Polina Radeva competed at the No. 1 singles slot. Radeva fell by narrow scores of 6-3, against her nationally ranked opponent. On the season, the Varna, Bulgaria native posts a 5-5 record in singles play.
- In tough competition, Tavpash faced an opponent ranked 61st in the nation. Tavpash was able to narrow her opponent's lead from the first to second sets, but fell by scores of 6-1, 6-3.
- After competing in exhibition play last week at Azusa Pacific, freshman Theresa Wassmann earned a spot in the lineup against the Buckeyes. Wassmann was able to pick up four games against her Buckeye opponent.
- On the day, Tavpash, freshman Marta Bettinelli and junior Vanesa Pardo all improved from the first to second games against their opponents.

- "I'm happy to see the progress from the whole team, especially the returners, when playing big teams like OSU and Notre Dame. They believe in themselves more now than they did last year, and that's great to see!"

- The Bowling Green tennis program will return home after an eight-match road stretch as it hosts the University of Illinois-Chicago this Friday, March 16. First serve is set for 1 p.m. at the Perrysburg Tennis Center and is free to attend.
