Last weekend, the Falcons extended their win streak to five by downing Akron on Friday afternoon. After the Falcons earned the doubles point, Bowling Green gained the 6-1 victory by also tallying five singles wins against the Zips. Junior Paula Comella and sophomore Marharita-Sophia Tavpash extended their win streak at No. 1 doubles to four straight as they were also able to earn a win on Sunday afternoon in the Falcons loss to Buffalo.
Last season against Toledo, the Falcons earned a 4-3 win at home where Comella, Polina Radeva, and Ayumi Sasaki all earned singles wins, while in doubles play Bowling Green earned wins on both courts one and two for the point. Last season the Falcons opened MAC play against Eastern Michigan, but fell in by 6-1 score on the road. The Falcons will face off on the UT Varsity Courts Friday afternoon against Toledo, who has posted an 11-5 overall record this season. The Rockets are currently 1-2 in the MAC after most recently earning a 6-1 win against Northern Illinois (April 1), but opened conference play with losses to both Buffalo and Akron. Off to a 14-5 overall record in the 2018 campaign, Eastern Michigan has had a 2-2 start in Mid-American Conference action thus far. The Eagles pair of wins came by scores of 4-3 against Akron and Ball State, while most recently Eastern Michigan fell at Western Michigan in a narrow 4-3 final. Prior to taking on the Falcons, the Eagles will face Miami and Dayton in a doubleheader on Friday, April 6 before the event at Bowling Green on April 8. A seasoned eight-player roster, Eastern Michigan features five seniors on its team, while head coach Jayson Wiseman is in his first year at the helm of the program.
