Vie, Gustafson Named Jet's Athletes Of The Week
April 30, 2018 | General, Men's Golf, Women's Track and Field
Each week, the Bowling Green State University Athletic Department names the Jet's Pizza Athletes of the Week, as selected by the athletic communications department based on their athletic performances from the previous week. This week's winners are golfer Rodrigue Vie and track and field student-athlete Aliyah Gustafson.
Male Athlete of the Week
Rodrigue Vie, a freshman from Epinal, France, led the Bowling Green State University men's golf team with a 14th place finish at the Mid-American Conference Championships. He carded scores of 74, 80, 74 and 78 for a four-round total of 306, +18. He was the team's leading scorer by nine strokes and his third-round 74 was the team's best of the round.
Female Athlete of the Week
Aliyah Gustafson, a redshirt senior from Iowa City, Iowa, broke the school record in the shot put by throwing 56-feet-11.5 (17.36m) Saturday at Louisville's Lenny Lyles-Clark Wood Invitational. Gustafson's toss is more than four feet further than any other student-athlete in the MAC this year and ranks eighth in the country. She won the event against eight other competitors who were all ranked among the top 100 nationally in the shot put, with three ranking among the top 50.
