BGSU's 2018-19 Schedule
In 2018-19, the Falcons will play a total of 11 games against teams that advanced to either the NCAA Championships or the WNIT last season.
The non-league schedule includes three games against teams that advanced to national postseason play, and the Falcons also renew a number of local and regional rivalries.
"We're really looking forward to the upcoming season," said Fralick, who came to BGSU in April after 10 wildly successful seasons, the last three as head coach, at Ashland University. "Our non-conference schedule is going to be very challenging.
"I'm excited for the opportunity to play teams with a variety of styles during the non-conference season, as we get ready for the MAC schedule."
The Falcons' 2018-19 season – and the Fralick Era – will begin with a game at Michigan State on Tuesday, Nov. 6. The Spartans won 19 games and advanced to the third round of the WNIT last season.
The following Tuesday sees the Falcons play the first home game with Fralick at the helm, as the Brown and Orange will host Marshall (Nov. 13) to begin a three-game homestand. Robert Morris comes to town four days later (Sat., Nov. 17). The Colonials, after suffering an early-season home loss to the Falcons last year, bounced back to win 25 games overall. Robert Morris went 16-2 in the Northeast Conference and participated in the WNIT.
On Tuesday, Nov. 20, Loyola University Chicago comes to the Stroh. The Ramblers are coached by one of the top players in BGSU women's basketball history, Kate Achter.
BGSU then jets to sunny South Carolina to play a pair of games in the Coastal Carolina Tournament over Thanksgiving weekend. The Falcons meet the host school on Friday, Nov. 23, before taking on Mercer two days later. Those two opponents combined to win 47 games a year ago, with Mercer going 30-3 overall, winning the Southern Conference regular-season and tournament titles and advancing to the NCAA Championships.
The month of November ends with a trip to Cincinnati for a game vs. Xavier (Thu., Nov. 29), and the Falcons conclude a two-game road swing by beginning the month of December in Buffalo, N.Y. BGSU faces Canisius on Sat., Dec. 8.
The Falcons take a break for fall semester exams before hosting Detroit Mercy on Monday, Dec. 17. A trip to Valparaiso (Fri., Dec. 21) concludes the pre-Christmas schedule, and the Brown and Orange then will wrap up the non-conference portion of the 2018-19 slate with a home game vs. Davis & Elkins College on Sunday, Dec. 30.
BGSU leads the all-time series with seven of the 11 non-conference opponents. And, the Falcons continue to lead the all-time series with each of the 11 MAC foes. Of this year's 22 different opponents, BG trails in just one series (Michigan State), while another (Xavier) is tied. BG will meet each of the two Coastal Carolina Tournament foes, CCU and Mercer, for the first time.
The MAC schedule once again sees the Falcons play a home-and-home series against each of the other East Division members – Akron, Buffalo, Kent State, Miami and Ohio – and BGSU will play two games apiece against West Division foes Northern Illinois and Toledo. BGSU will play single games against Ball State, Central Michigan, Eastern Michigan and Western Michigan, hosting CMU and WMU while hitting the road to meet BSU and EMU.
The MAC slate begins on Saturday, Jan. 5, when WMU comes to the Stroh Center. The home portion of the conference schedule includes five Saturday dates and four Wednesday matchups.
"The MAC is an outstanding conference," said Fralick. "That was reflected in the success the conference had last season, with two teams advancing to the Round of 16 in the NCAA Tournament. We are definitely looking forward to the challenges that will be presented to us this season."
The MAC Tournament will begin on Monday, March 11, with first-round games at campus sites. Following that round, the surviving teams will head to Quicken Loans Arena in downtown Cleveland for the quarterfinal (March 13), semifinal (March 15) and championship (March 16).
The Falcons will not play a true exhibition game, instead playing a pair of closed scrimmages in October.

BGSU returns 10 letterwinners from a year ago, and Fralick and her staff will also have five newcomers, including four freshmen and a transfer, on the 2018-19 roster. That transfer, Alyssa Dean, will be eligible to play for the Falcons following the conclusion of the fall semester.
