Bowling Green Defeated By Wofford On Saturday

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – The Bowling Green State University volleyball program concluded play this afternoon at the Purdue Mortar Board Premier. The Falcons were defeated by Wofford College, 3-0, Saturday afternoon at Purdue's Holloway Gymnasium in West Lafayette, Indiana.

"We are very disappointed at the outcome of our opening weekend. We faced three tough teams that challenged us in different parts of the game. They exposed our weaknesses, but also showcased some of our strengths on which we will continue to build. We will learn from these failures and I believe they will make us stronger and better in the long run."
HIGHLIGHTS
• Wofford led for a majority of the first two sets, but in the third set, the Falcons pushed hard in an attempt to force a fourth set.
• The Terriers claimed a 7-4 lead in the third, but the Falcons went on to tie the set at 10-10, and again at 13-13, before scoring three-consecutive points to take a 16-13 lead.
• However, Wofford totaled 12 of the next 16 points to win the set, 25-20, earning the sweep in the process.
INDIVIDUAL LEADERS
• For the second time in three matches, Katelyn Meyer led the Falcons in kills. She posted 10 kills after racking up 11 kills at Purdue yesterday.
• Jacqueline Askin followed closely with eight kills for the Orange and Brown.
• Bowling Green had a number of players contribute defensively. Kallie Seimet led the way in digs with 13, followed by Isabelle Marciniak (8), Paulina Iacobelli (7), Meyer (7) and Taylor Haberland (6).
• Seimet was named to the All-Tournament team as she averaged 5.89 digs per set across the weekend.
• Marciniak totaled a team-high 24 assists on the day. Seimet added five assists.
UP NEXT
• Bowling Green now readies for its home opener on Tuesday, Aug. 28 versus Oakland.
• The Oakland match is scheduled for 6 p.m.
• The Falcons will then head to Pittsburgh to take part in the Duquesne Tournament over Aug. 31 – Sept. 1. In Pittsburgh, the Falcons will battle Duquesne, Youngstown State and UNLV.
