Sophomore quarterback Jarret Doege tied his career-high by tossing four touchdown passes and registered his seventh consecutive game with multiple scoring tosses. Doege and an opportunistic defense helped BGSU overcome a 14-0 first quarter deficit with 21 straight second quarter points. The Falcons trailed again 35-34 in the second half but rebounded with Doege's final touchdown throw, which scored the only points of the fourth quarter.
The Falcons (1-2 overall, 0-0 MAC) played in front of 17,542 fans on Falcon Family Weekend and Band and Cheer Day at the Doyt.
