BGSU Outplayed In Four Set Match Against Western Michigan

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - The Bowling Green State University volleyball program's winning streak was cut to just seven games after they were outperformed by the Western Michigan Broncos in a four-set match on Saturday, Sept. 29. The Falcons managed to win just one set against the Broncos.
The Falcons are now 9-8 in all competitions this season, and 3-1 in the Mid-American Conference.

They played really well, showed a lot of effort; they out-dug us, they out-blocked us, they had a better hitting percentage… They definitely deserved the win… We were really flat in the second set, I talked to [the team] about showing some pride here on our home court... [and I am] proud of our team after bouncing back after losing the first two sets."
HIGHLIGHTSÂ
• Western Michigan were simply dominant throughout the entire match. Even in the set the Falcons managed to win, there 11 ties, and five lead changes.
• In the first set, the Broncos scored four straight before the Falcons were able to get a point of their own (4-1). Later in the set, three consecutive attack errors from the Falcons put the Broncos ahead 9-4. Though the Falcons never led the first set, they managed to level the Broncos once at 21-21.
• The Falcons led for the first time in the second set (4-3). That occurred in a four point scoring streak that resulted BGSU momentarily leading the set 6-3.
• After winning the third set 25-21, the Falcons were up 24-20 in the fourth, and only a point away from forcing a fifth set, but the Broncos found a way to bounce back and win the set (27-25) and take home the match.
• Ona positive note, senior libero Kallie Seimet reached 2,000 career digs as a Falcon in the fourth set.
MATCH LEADERS
• Jessi Holly led the team in kills versus Western Michigan with 13 kills throughout four sets, capping the night with a .227 hitting percentage. Isabel Kovacic and Katie Kidwell followed behind with 11 and 10 kills.
• Isabelle Marciniak managed 27 assists in four sets, where as Western Michigan's Mary Murphy achieved a double-double of 41 assists and 12 digs, featuring six kills of her own.Â
• Kallie Seimet needed only 27 digs to reach the 2,000 career digs milestone. Seimet totaled 32 throughout the match, and is now at 2,005 digs in her career as a BGSU Falcon.
