BGSU Announces Promotions For Saturday’s Football Home Opener

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – The Bowling Green State University Department of Athletics has announced its promotions ahead of Saturday's (Sept. 8) home-opening football game versus the University of Maryland. The contest will kick off at 6 p.m. on ESPN+ at Doyt L. Perry Stadium. Below is a breakdown of the giveaways, events and activities that will take place throughout the game.
WHITE OUT THE DOYT
• Saturday's game is a "White Out." All fans are encouraged to wear white to the game.
• The football team will be wearing all white unfirms, including a white Military Appreciation helmet. Down the center of the helmet is an orange stripe that includes the names of 111 students from Bowling Green State University who have died in the line of service. On the back of the helmet, the number "111" is shown at the bottom of the stripe down the center.
• The Military Appreciation helmet will be worn on Saturday as part of Heroes Day at The Doyt.
STADIUM SEATING CHANGES IN 2018
• The BGSU Football team, band and student seating will be moved to the east side of Doyt L. Perry Stadium. This will allow for greater student and band interaction, while also providing greater visibility for both groups to our television audiences. Important efficiencies will also be gained by the sideline switch. These include faster access to the sports medicine area, a closer proximity to the equipment room and improvement to the layout of coaches' booths.
• The band will be seated in sections 20 and 22.
• The student section will now be staged in sections 8, 10, 20 and 22.

STUDENT PROMOTIONS
• The first 750 students in attendance will receive a White Out t-shirt.
• The first 75 fans in attendance will receive a free t-shirt to be a part of the fan tunnel on the field before the game.
• The student 50-50-50 $50 cash giveaway is back. One student will win $50 just for being at the game and sitting in the student section. If the student called off is not in attendance or not in the student section, the $50 will roll over into the pot for the next home game.
FRATERNITY & SORORITY LIFE CHALLENGE
• Saturday's game is on the Fraternity and Sorority Life Challenge schedule.
• BGSU fraternity and sororities will be competing against each other to see which group can attend the most BGSU athletic events.
• This year-long challenge will award $3,000 to the winner.
RESIDENCE LIFE CHALLENGE
• Much like the Fraternity and Sorority Life Challenge, residence halls will be competing against each other by attending BGSU athletic events throughout the year.
• This year-long challenge will award $2,500 to the winner.
FALCON MARCHING BAND
• Pre-Flight with the Falcon Marching Band (FMB) takes place 65 minutes prior to kick. With the game slated to start at approximately 6:05 p.m., pre-flight is scheduled for 5 p.m. on Saturday.
• As a reminder, the Falcon Marching Band will now be staged in sections 20 and 22.
• The halftime show will feature songs such as "Lane Boy" and "House of Gold" by 21 Pilots; "Say Amen" by Panic! At The Disco; and "Tighten Up" by the Black Keys.
• The Falcon Marching Band will also perform the 5th Quarter on the field after the game.
FALCON TAILGATE PARK AND KID'S ZONE / TEAM WALK
• Falcon Tailgate Park always opens three hours prior to kick. For Saturday's game, Falcon Tailgate Park will open at 3 p.m.
• Please note that Falcon Tailgate Park is now in a new location. Falcon Tailgate Park is now located south of the stadium.
• The kid's zone at Falcon Tailgate Park is in the northern section of the park. Free inflatables and face painting will be available on game day.
• The football team walk will take place at approximately 3:40 p.m. along Falcon Tailgate Park.
BASEBALL MAC CHAMPIONSHIP TEAM RECOGNITION
• Members from several Bowling Green Baseball MAC Championship teams will be recognized on the field during the game.
• Former players from the 1972, 1998, 1999, 2008 and 2009 championship teams will be back on campus this weekend. They will be honored during a timeout during the third quarter of Saturday's game.
