LOUISVILLE, KY. – The Bowling Green State University tennis program lost to the University of Louisville by a score of 5-2 on Sunday, Jan. 20. The loss brings the Falcons record to 1-1 on the season after sweeping Bellarmine University on Saturday, Jan. 19. The Falcons were led by Paula Comella and Vanesa Pardo in singles with Polina Radeva and Ayumi Sasaki working for a win in doubles.

Statistical Standouts

Paula Comella tallied her second win in first singles this season, after losing the first set. She stormed back in the second set, winning 6-3 before concluding with a 6-4 victory in the third set.
Comella's win in singles ties her for 24th in school history for career singles wins with Devon Bissinger at 56.
In singles play, Vanesa Pardo won in straight sets, only allowing her opponent to capture five total points. Over two matches, Pardo has yet to lose a set.
For doubles, Polina Radeva and Ayumi Sasaki achieved a 6-4 win. As a duo, they are 2-0 in doubles for the season after winning 6-3 against Bellarmine.

Up Next
The Falcons will be back in action on Wednesday, Jan. 23 when they travel to South Bend, Ind. to face Notre Dame with a scheduled 5 p.m. first serve. This will be Notre Dame's second match of the year. They previously faced Western Michigan on Friday, Jan. 18, sweeping the Broncos 7-0. BGSU traveled to South Bend last season, falling to the Fighting Irish 6-1.
